As fall looms overhead and the flu "epidemic" spreads, I've found myself to have come down with just such a bug. Since last Tuesday my body has seemed to be constantly low on energy, no matter how many hours I spent resting the night before. Since then I have been shoveling vitamins of every sort into my mouth hoping to only receive some small repercussions from the sickness. My body is still teetering on the idea of being sick or healthy and still can't seem to settle its mind, which has left me on the couch this entire weekend, hoping to recover before the workload of this up and coming week.

Since I haven't really left the house all that much this weekend, I decided to set up a studio once again in my living room, and practice some lighting arrangements and also tried to play around with some fashion and editorial ideas I had been wanting to create. I really do enjoy working with myself as a subject, especially when I'm just working to gain experience, I become 100% comfortable and engaging in my photographs. I just need to learn how to work better with models in the studio.

Hope all is well for everyone.

Redo Reuse Refuse Renew

Its been forever and the past month of my life has been a blur. I thought long of what to write and open with on this post, but I just couldn't pick my brain for anything. Just know things are about to be a bit more productive.

They Came and Went

A lot has happened since my last post, Luca came into town to visit a week or so back, but ended up getting food poisoning from Jet Blue. Shortly after he returned to New York, Tony Choy decided to visit and came into town late this past Monday night. I really love Tony Choy, every time I see him we always end up doing the same enjoyable things, those being drinking, and watching graffiti and skate videos. To make this past week even more ridiculously amazing, Matthew Franklin called me around 7:00pm to tell me he would be coming to stay with me in Chicago for a few days, and that Tony Katai would be coming along as well, both of which are great friends of mine.

Best,

Pride and Prejudice

Since Luca moved to New York I hadn't really left the house until last Sunday, being Pride Day. I didn't spend much time at the parade itself, and wandered off with some friends of mine to a small house party with many friendly faces. I'm glad to have met them, they've given me much reason to smile.

Best,

Black Sewage Lagoon and The Forest of Preservation

This Morning, sometime around 6am, I decided to go to my bed and try to sleep. I woke up by 1pm in the afternoon and made a hotdog sandwich and some coffee. A couple hours later Luca yelled for me from the bathroom, telling me to come quick. I entered the room to find a stream of water rushing out along the tiles of the floor. While cleaning up the water and trying to stop the flow from the toilet, Kim, my roommate, yells from the front of our apartment. When I find her a fountain of water began to bubble up from the drain set in the middle of the concrete which makes up our front stoop. So by this point there are now two locations around my apartment, in which water was leaking. To leave the apartment I had to make a path consisting of a paint can and a bucket; even though crossing the sewage water still wasn't a pleasurable experience. After calling my landlord the contractor arrived to fix the problem, and two hours later, with a front stoop that was covered in black sewage he left.

Apparently the problem turned out to be a mixture of the runoff created by the storm outside and a blocked up sewage drain. Awesome. Also we turned our most front den into the Green Room. The trees remind me of MIssouri. Soon enough.

Always,

World Naked Bike Ride/Chicago 2009

This past Saturday(June 13th) happened to be the night of the yearly "World Naked Bike Ride" My roommate and I met up with a few friends at the meeting location and within an hour we were on the road. The ride itself ran over two hours as the mass made its way around the city of Chicago. From Chicago's famous Michigan Avenue, to it's longest, Ashland Avenue, the riders made sure to hit every popular Chicago location. Over 1700 people showed up for the ride and at points in the race the mass ranged over a mile long. Luckily enough I brought my camera and my low light lens. Enjoy!

Always,

Sam Gove
